Lend A Hand - Volunteering Opportunities

• Volunteers are needed at a Child Contact Centre to help create a smooth running session by being warm, friendly, attentive and non-judgemental, helping families to play, making tea etc.
• A hospital coffee shop is in need of helpers to make coffee and tea and do small cooking tasks such as toasting tea cakes and warming soup on Monday and Friday afternoons.
• The Worcestershire Branch of the MND Association is looking for a branch secretary. The role is home based with attendance at committee meetings and other events. They also need a General Fundraiser to help raise money to make a difference to the lives of people living with MND.
• Do you enjoy working in the open air? Working parties are meeting on the 2nd Sunday of each month to spruce up Coney Meadow reed bed, a wildlife habitat on the Droitwich Barge Canal.
• A local Museum is looking to recruit an administrative assistant to help with general office work, a Friends Society Administrator to maintain membership database, log payments etc. Front of House staff to greet visitors and outdoor maintenance volunteers to make frontage of Museum look smart & tidy. All opportunities need a commitment of ½ day once or twice a week. Travel expenses will be met.
• Here is an opportunity to work from home. By joining a ‘Carers Talk Time’ scheme, you can phone people who are caring for friends or family members to help them feel less isolated and more supported. Expenses will be paid.
• Are you interested in becoming a Walking for Health volunteer walk leader? The next training day takes place on 7th September.
• A local organisation has opportunities for people interested in administration, reception, cashiering and finance work. This could help you to build your CV and gain valuable experience.
• Mentors are required at a training centre which supports the socially excluded, helping them to access vocational training or employment. The work would be with 14 – 19 year olds on a project in Worcester.
• A volunteer manager is needed at a local charity shop from 9.30am - 3.30pm. You will need to open up the shop, handle monies & generally deal with the everyday business of the shop. Help is also needed in the Café on an ad hoc basis and in the garden.
• A team leader is needed to organise volunteers’ rotas at a local hostel. To be able to use a computer and have access to email could prove useful. Also a furniture store co-ordinator is required, and a fundraising co-ordinator to generate and put into practice ideas for raising money for the hostel. Travel expenses met and training given.
