Volunteering Opportunities - Lend A Hand

• Volunteers are needed to help prepare food and drinks for their homeless and needy clients at a Day Centre based in Worcester. They are looking to recruit volunteers for Thursdays and weekends.
• A Communication Support volunteer is needed to support stroke survivors. Can you spare 1-2 hours a week and be able to offer a long term commitment? You need to be able to interact with people of all ages, with awareness of confidentiality and a respect for dignity.
• Visitor Welcomers / Stewards are needed for a City Centre Historical Church, to give local people and tourists the opportunity to see a fine example of a Georgian Church with original furnishings.
• Voluntary Community Trainers are needed by a local organisation. Would you like to teach? Would you like to deliver courses in an area of interest or expertise? Would you like to share your skills and experience with others in your community? Whatever your field there are people who want to learn from you.
• Tenbury & District Museum Society are looking to recruit a Volunteer/Steward to show people around the Museum, and to help in other areas like cleaning or collating the collection. A half day of training will be given.
• Nightstop Project is looking for hosts for homeless young people. Could you help to provide emergency accommodation for homeless 16-25 year olds on a one night at a time basis? Nightstop provides emergency overnight accommodation for young, homeless people in the homes of trained volunteers who are supported by project staff.
• Have you got a few spare hours a week to help an elderly person with their shopping? If so, contact Sharon on the number below.
• The British Heart Foundation is looking to recruit volunteers who can spare a couple of hours to help collect funds on behalf of the charity via collection cans/buckets in supermarkets, shopping areas or sporting events.
• A volunteer is needed to assist with courses and craft sessions for customers in supported housing. This could be to help with creative crafts, art, flower arranging or gardening.
• An organisation in Worcester needs someone to help manage their website, and they also have opportunities for volunteers to work in their charity shop.
• Cancer Research UK’s Relay for Life Worcester is in desperate need of volunteers for the committee, and for help in other areas relating to the organisation of their event. If you would like more information, please phone Tracey Pounds on 01327 855930.
